Guidelines on using translators
The following tips will ensure you receive the best results from your translator, and save you money:
  • Ensure you brief your translator as fully as possible - time spent on this can save misunderstanding and unexpected costs later on.
  • Translators charge either by the number of words or by lines of text. Give them time to complete the work: the shorter the notice, the greater the cost may be!
  • Formal written translations can be quite expensive. Check to see whether a resume will suffice for your purposes.
  • Consider rewriting your original text in a simpler, more culturally adapted form before the translation.
  • Consider doing any artwork, graphics and typesetting yourself (rather than allowing the company or agency to deal with it).
